Summary
Led the complete rebuild of BuildWitt’s authentication and identity platform, delivering a unified login experience across web and mobile platforms ahead of schedule during the company’s pivot to becoming a software company.
The Challenge
When BuildWitt decided to become a serious software company, they needed more than just a login system—they needed a real identity platform that could scale. As the company’s most experienced product person, I was tasked with building the product discipline AND the product itself, simultaneously.
What I Built

I led the end-to-end development of BuildWitt Account, a modern authentication and identity platform that serves as the connective tissue for all BuildWitt products. This wasn’t just about technical implementation—I established the entire SDLC process and stakeholder alignment frameworks from scratch.
The platform included:
- Unified authentication across web, iOS, and Android
- Modern identity management architecture
- Foundation for future SSO and 2FA capabilities
- Clean user experience designed for construction professionals (who need things to just work)
The Impact
Delivered ahead of schedule, which in startup land is basically magic. More importantly, we built a platform that could grow with the company’s ambitions. The project established patterns and processes that the team continues to use today.
What Made It Work
This project lived at the intersection of technical complexity and organizational change. Success required getting buy-in from leadership, aligning cross-functional teams, and keeping everything moving forward while the company itself was transforming. It’s the kind of “messy middle” work I thrive in.
